Just finished reading "The Golden Spruce--A True Story of Myth, Madness
and Greed" by John Vaillant recently, and thought you all might
enjoy the read....
There are fleeting mentions of the Sitka Spruce's use in musical
instruments, but mostly this is a depressing but facinating story that
manages to cover the history of logging in Western North America, and
the story of the dude who cut down "The Golden Spruce" in the Queen
Charlottes as a protest to logging practices in the islands....
Highly recommended to spruce lovers wordwide...
